Competitor benchmarking: see where the AI answer is already won
Competitor benchmarking shows you where competitors already own the AI answer and where the lane is open. Audaeo scores up to three competitor domains on the same CLEAR dimensions and the same buyer questions as your site. You see, dimension by dimension, who the engine favors and where you can move first.

How does competitor benchmarking work?
Audaeo runs the same audit on each competitor's public pages that it runs on yours, then plots the CLEAR scores side by side. Grouped columns put the five dimensions on one axis, with your domain in teal and each competitor in its own color, so a lead or a lag is visible per dimension.
How do you read the comparison?
Read down each dimension. Where a competitor's column is taller, the engine has more reason to favor them there, and the audit says why. Where every column is short, no one owns that ground yet, and it is the lane to take. The comparison turns "the competition is ahead" into a specific list of where and on what.
What do you get?
- A side-by-side CLEAR comparison against up to three named competitors.
- The dimensions where a competitor leads, so you know what the engine rewards them for.
- The open lanes where no one covers a buyer question yet.
Where does it fit in CLEAR?
Benchmarking drives Leverage and Relevance. Leverage, because comparing scores tells you where effort compounds against real rivals rather than in the abstract. Relevance, because it maps the buyer questions competitors already answer and the ones nobody does, which is the lane you can take.
What pairs with it?
Common questions about competitor benchmarking
How many competitors can I compare?
Up to three domains alongside your own. Audaeo runs the same CLEAR audit and the same buyer-question coverage on each, so the comparison is like-for-like rather than a mix of different measures.
What does the benchmark compare?
CLEAR scores across the five dimensions and coverage of the buyer questions from query fan-out, plus keyword overlap. You see both how machine-readable each site is and which questions each one answers.
Where do the competitor scores come from?
Audaeo audits each competitor's public pages the same way it audits yours. No private data is involved; it reads what an AI engine would read on their site and scores it on the same scale.
How often should I re-benchmark?
Re-run when you ship the content and schema fixes the audit recommends, so you can see the gap close. Quarterly is a reasonable cadence for tracking whether you are gaining or losing ground in the answer.
